Formulations containing linezolid with or without diclofenac sodium were prepared using carbopol-HPMC and carbopol-NaCMC. Clinical studies of linezolid in-situ gel (with or without diclofenac sodium) on periodontitis have shown promising results regarding reduction of probing pocket depth (PPD) and bleeding index(BI) on intergroup comparison, None of the patients in either of the groups showed any untoward clinical changes. There was no pain, swelling and redness, but only the mild discomfort felt by three subjects. The changes from the baseline value on the 15th and 30th days for PI, PPD and BI are summarized as the control group (group C) did not show significant reductions at 15th day, whereas intragroup comparisons were statistically significant (P < 0.01) in group A and group B. The changes in Clinical attachment level (CAL) values were statistically significant (P ≤ 0.05) at all-time intervals. Similarly, a significant (≤0.01) reduction of CAL in group A and group B, indicated tissue regeneration and reattachments of ligaments in comparison with Group C (placebo)....
